Everyone has a story…here’s mine.
ABOUT
I’ve always had a passion for photography. When we are young and in school, we try to figure out what we want to do for the rest of our lives. I’ve always known it would be in photography.
For over 30 years, I’ve carried a camera. Video cameras, still photography cameras and even cell phone cameras. I’ve always had one with me. And I’ve made a life with my photography.
In my first life career, I was a television news photojournalist. Every day capturing news stories, meeting new people, and telling their stories and sharing those stories with the public. I’ve interviewed celebrities, professional athletes, presidents, astronauts, and average Joe’s. I was good at it. Good enough to win 12 regional and national Emmy Awards and countless awards from different national news organizations. I was even runner up to being named the Television News Photographer of the Year by the National Press Photographers Association.
Although I had great success, it was time to change up my career, but keep the photography. I left the news business and entered the world of marketing and content creation. I joined the Denver Center for the Performing Arts to produce marketing videos that promote their shows. After a short stint there, I was hired on as the Marketing Photographer for Denver International Airport. While everyone says, “you must have had fun taking photos of airplanes,” surprisingly that was the last thing I would take photos of. Most of my time was spent producing marketing photos of events and providing new content for the website and social media. I would produce and shoot videos for promotional purposes and take headshots for most of the staff.
After a fun ride there, it was time to venture out on my own. I started Ken Mostek Photography in 2019. While it was scary and challenging, it’s what I’ve always wanted to do. Little did I know, 9 months after starting, COVID-19 changed the world. All events stopped and people stayed inside. But my business survived and grows stronger every day. I am still telling visual stories but now for companies and organizations.
This is my life’s passion and it’s what I was meant to do. My photography career has been a huge adventure. Here’s to continuing the journey!
